Hello Everybody-

What a terrific time of year! As I write this, the 4th of July weekend is rapidly approaching, and I get to thinking about some of the things it represents.

First, I think about what the holiday is: Independence Day. It’s a day for us to reflect upon the early history of our country, and celebrate all the great things that our independence provides. Those of us in the coin hobby get to enjoy a unique perspective, as we get to see tangible pieces of our great nation’s history right in front of us. Just the other day, I was looking a submission of some 18th Century coins, and I thought about how amazing it was that these coins were probably held and spent by someone who actually witnessed the beginnings of our nation.

Second, I think about how holidays like this give us a little extra time to enjoy what is important to us now - our families and friends. The weather on the 4th always seems to be perfect for a barbecue and evening fireworks viewing. Although I will not have the opportunity to spend this holiday with my folks back in Boston, I will be with many close friends, and, more importantly, my own family. As many of you know, I became a father about a year and a half ago, and it is exciting for my wife and I to watch our daughter experience things like her first fireworks display.

Finally, I think a bit about the future. Now that I am a father, I am hopeful that my daughter will enjoy the same country that I am so proud to have grown up in. We have had some tough times here in the last few years, but that is nothing new. As a country, we always seem to come through better than we were before.

I would like to thank all of you who we are proud to do business with here at ANACS, and I hope that you all have a fantastic summer. If you are in Boston for the ANA show, make sure you come by and say hello!
